ABOUT

Hi, I’m Jean —
founder of Hei Pottery.
From running a pet grooming shop and capturing moments as an amateur photographer, I followed my heart into the world of pottery. My journey took me to Japan, Jingdezhen, and across Europe, where I explored museums, studied ceramic culture, and fell in love with the rhythm of working with clay.

Mia Yang
I graduated from OCAD University in 2021 with a major in Drawing and Painting. After spending years focused on two-dimensional work, I was drawn to ceramics for its physicality and the direct connection between hand and material.
Working with clay brings a different kind of focus—one that’s quiet and steady. I enjoy the grounded feeling it gives me, the way it slows things down and creates space to think and feel through making.
My background in painting helps shape the way I approach form, texture, and composition in three dimensions. I’m interested in how ideas can move from flat images into objects you can hold and use.
In class, my goal is to create a space where students can explore at their own pace, pay attention to process, and discover what working with clay means to them—whether they’re new to it or looking to go deeper.
Luna

Hi, I’m Luna — a software engineer by day and a pottery artist by heart. I came to the wheel in search of peace beyond the screen, and what I found was something deeper: a quiet kind of healing that came in the moment my fingers met the clay. Wheel throwing has become a grounding ritual — one that brings me focus, joy, and a sense of presence I hadn’t known I was missing. Now, I’m here to share that experience with others — whether you’re here to learn, unwind, or simply reconnect.

Yurong
I am an alumna of OCAD University with a major in Illustration and completed my studies in Game Art 3D Modeling at George Brown College.
To me, Illustration and Ceramic share a common language of form, storytelling, and emotional resonance only differing in their mediums. Meanwhile, my experience with 3D modeling deepens my understanding of space, texture, and light, providing a solid foundation for the development of ceramic art.
What fascinates me the most is how the collision and fusion of different glazes bring even more possibilities and vari to each piece — providing creators endless space for imagination and exploration.
I am looking forward to guide students experience the process of transforming their imagination into tangible reality, discover the magic that time and temperature bring to these materials and mediums, and find the delicate balance between patience and the gentle pressure of their hands.
