Mia Yang

I graduated from OCAD University in 2021 with a major in Drawing and Painting. After spending years focused on two-dimensional work, I was drawn to ceramics for its physicality and the direct connection between hand and material.

Working with clay brings a different kind of focus—one that’s quiet and steady. I enjoy the grounded feeling it gives me, the way it slows things down and creates space to think and feel through making.

My background in painting helps shape the way I approach form, texture, and composition in three dimensions. I’m interested in how ideas can move from flat images into objects you can hold and use.

In class, my goal is to create a space where students can explore at their own pace, pay attention to process, and discover what working with clay means to them—whether they’re new to it or looking to go deeper.
